One area of Seoul that is famed for a rich history that represents a part of the city that can seem lost in the new age technology and pop-culture of the younger generations, is the Hanok Village. Situated between the palaces Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, the Bukchon Hanok village is home to hundreds of traditional style houses that date back to the Joseon period. It's a really interesting hive of culture, as most of the Hanok houses are lived in by locals but just less than half have been bought by the council and are either memorials to those who lived in them or are small museums dedicated to different aspects of Korean culture, some holding workshops on different traditional practices.

It's completely immersive to walk around and could take you from 1 to several hours depending how lost you want to get amongst the hive of immersive history. This part of the city really demonstrates the urge this country feels to embalm and nurture their heritage, which has so often been damaged by past strikes against Korea.
